World Archery  Championships 2023: Jyoti Vennam leads Indian compound women’s team won GOLD

The Indian women’s compound team of Parneet Kaur, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Aditi Gopichand creates history as they bagged India’s first-ever gold at the Archery World Championships. The Indua trio beat Mexico on Friday in the final of the 2023 World Championships currently underway in Berlin, Germany.

The Indian team defeated Mexico 235-229 to claim the top spot. Earlier on Wednesday, the Indians began their campaign with a 230-228 victory over Turkey. Then the Indian women prevailed over Taiwan in the quarterfinals 228-226 and Colombia 220-216 in the semifinals.

This is India’s first-ever gold in the Archery World Championships. India had won 9 silver and 2 bronze in the past editions.

The trio of Parneet Kaur, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Aditi Gopichand Swami have all also qualified for the quarterfinals of the individual event. The medal round of the individual event will take place on Saturday.
